• We began the year teaching the Phoenix Financial Literacy Program to youth at the Clark Road MB Church as part of their Genesis Program in Gary. We partnered with Chase Bank’s community support division and the Gatekeepers CPA firm to provide the students with tools as they maneuver the steps of learning sound money management skills. Upon completion of the program, Chromebooks were given to participating students during a game in a suite at the Gary Southshore Railcats stadium.  All involved had a great time and were appreciative of the laptops they earned.
  • NASA has lost quite of few individuals and supporters over the past years. The list includes Ben Taylor, nephew of Board Member Jeff Taylor, Terry Lofton, brother of Board Member Dr. Preston Williams, and Marion Colquitt, mother of Board Member, Rev Joseph Colquitt. May they all Rest In Peace.
  • Our student-athletes of the year include Nahni Brown of Danville, Virginia. Nahni led her team the Lady Dukes Mays, 14U to another TOP GUN SPORTS tournament championship. She was named MVP and awarded the prestigious Pink Softball.  Caitlyn Walker, a Gary teen who was featured on a Chicago ABC channel 7 sports broadcast.  She was one of the best players not just on her baseball team, but also in the Calumet Region Little League. She was the only girl on the team.  Walker was selected for the senior all-star baseball team and this summer, Caitlyn was invited to participate in an MLB instructional camp in Vero Beach, Florida for future stars.   John Colquitt, a senior at Brownsburg high school, once again won 3 medals at the IHSAA Boys Track & Field State Finals.  He won the 110m high hurdles, and the 300m hurdles and finished eighth in the long jump. He will continue his career at Indiana University. Ezekiel Gray was an integral part on the 2021 champion Andrean 59’s high school football team.  CONGRATS TO ALL!!!
