Seattle Mariners skipper Lloyd McClendon finished fourth in American League Manager of the Year voting, the MLB announced Tuesday, losing out on the prestigious award to Buck Showalter of the Baltimore Orioles. Gary, IN:  The NORTHSHORE AMATEUR SPORTS ACADEMY concluded its  2015 summer camp last week. NASA partnered with the YWCA of Northwest Indiana in conducting its All-Sports Youth Camp for nine weeks. Over 450 youth participated in various recreational type drills that included stretching, baserunning, fielding and hitting. The educational module included history lessons of area athletes that had made it to the Major Leagues.  Another component included foreign language lessons in Spanish and French. Speakers included Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Kawaan Short and Methodist Hospital’s emergency room Dr. Michael McGee.
